The Grasshoppers

In the Grasshopper room the ratio is 1 adult to 8 children. Each childcare practitioner is qualified to a minimum of Level 3, with many of our staff are qualified at Level 5. We build positive partnerships with parents, giving support and advice on your child’s growth and development, communicating with parents throughout the day via the Seesaw App. The team is led by a Senior Nursery Nurse. The children in the Grasshopper room follow the New Wales Curriculum which takes place both indoors and outdoors allowing children to learn through play and be at the centre of their learning. 

Your child’s interests will be taken into account and they will be encouraged to make their own choices about their learning. Practitioners observe the children, working with both individuals, small groups and at times the whole group. This results in practical, fun and hands-on activities which are known to develop positive attitudes to learning. Learning through play allows children to use initiative, take risks and make mistakes without fear of failure, play is how children make sense of the world. We offer role play, construction play, creative play, exploratory play and imagination play in the Grasshopper room.
